3 months later...

...and I managed to survive. A couple of things have changed since then, such as I lost 1 kilo (when I was quite sure I was going to gain 5..), I now drink alcohol, being tequila my favorite drink by far O.o...

What I'm trying to say is that I'm not the same person and changes were not for better or worse, there were just changes. I do have some extra money to spend, but no time and nowhere to spend it.

The last great thing happened last week when I met an old friend of mine, and we had a great time together *evil grin*. Hopefully that'll happen again :D. I might post something else for my friends only.

I'm going home later tonight after struggling with myself deciding if I should stay or not. That's because I have 2 rigs moving and a lot of change on crew change days.

(no subject)

I miss my old job, you know? Not my old salary which was like 3 x less than what I get now, but I do miss when we used to hang around the whole city, by car, we used to see the famous beaches, Sugar Loaf, Christ the Redeemeer, the famous and beautiful places in Rio. Now I don't have time to see the sun out, but I know this won't be for long. I'll soon adjust to the new job and everything will be OK. Guess in the end I miss my city...

What's not OK is that I started my amigurumi robot, but never came back to it again. Will try to do it today.

Last week I bought a couple of albums including Black eyed peas - Monkey business and  Red hot chilli peppers - Bloodsugarsexmagik. I'm still asking myself why I bought the BEP's one, I never liked them, but the sonngs are kinda funky although I try not to pay attention to the lyrics, they're kinda silly.
I cried listening to Under the Bridge...reminded me of my childhood and for some unknown reason, reminded me also of the first time I watched Terminator II (!!!) Go figure!

I'm having the weekend duty (I don't know why they call it weeken duty, if we have the company's cell phone the whole week). I also have the flu.O.o Hate to feel like this, sneezing like crazy! I'm glad this weekend's not been too busy, the combination of flu and busy weekend duty can be lethal!!

Looks like someone is going out on a date, (hate to say that won't be soon), stil...won't talk much about it, it might bring bad luck mwahaha...:D

I'm off to home and bed. I need a soup and toast. yummy

A new place to call home?

I don't think so, but I'm trying hard. As people would say home is where the heart is...my heart is 200km away from here, with my beautiful daughters and my parents.

I moved to a really small apartment which is good enough for me, living alone, but I've been having some domestic trouble, with the shower for example. Will try to fix asap.

At work things been going better than the last two weeks. A lot of people try to help me and a few ones try to piss me off. I don't know if I'm moody because of my new situation, but I've been quite intolerant with some of my workmates jokes and requests.

I can't wait to get my bedroom pink damask curtains and stool. Dad is bringing it all this week along with my craft stuff (I need to see pretty things as they're so rare here). Its decoration is going to be oh so dramatic!!:D Yes, I know I mentioned it before, but I'm really really excited.

Will get back to work!

Going home...

Another week in Macaé...My apartment is already rented, although I haven't moved yet. My bedroom decoration will be as dramatic as possible, with bright pink curtains and a bit of bright pink damask fabric here and there...*yummy* . I'm at home right now, this weekend is mine as I'll have to work on the next one. I'm not exactly going to work, we're going to a weekend meeting where we should be "socially integrated"...no comments.

Got a new issue of Cross stitcher, so full of cool christmassy stuff, and I have no time to stitch, but that's about to change. I really don't intend to live for working. I'm thinking of taking my Hilltribes project this time and see if I can finish it there, afterall, I'm so close to the end.

I had final exam for the first period at Chinese school yesterday...that was tough. The text was bigger than usual, and the questions quite tricky. My teacher Meimei told me to read the whole text aloud (it was on chinese characters) as soon as I got there and, boy, was I tired as I was delayed and ran to get there on time. Still, although I read like an almost illiterate (with many pauses) I could recognize all the characters and got an A. Got an A - with the questions. Next saturday they'll have lunch at a chinese restaurant for delivering our certificates. Unfortunately I won't be able to go as I'll be at an awesome beach hotel, "socially integrating"...what a waste!

I'll probably leave home later today as I have to be at the office at 07:30 tomorrow. Off to enjoy my girls a bit more.

During the week

It's been almost a week since I got here in the new city. The new job is really nice although I've been having trouble while being trained because everybody's so busy with the new rigs that they don't have time to train me. Still I enjoy doing the little I've learned so far. One of the rig managers refused to work with me and I understand that, he's worried about me screwing things up (things that took long time to be set up). I'll make my best to make the managers happy with my work (afterall, they're managers). ;D

One bad thing about this city: The transportation system. It's bureaucratic, it's hard to believe but it is, There are too many main stations, still the buses are always crowded. The good thing I know a lot of people here although I used to live miles away from here. People I know are mostly employees or former employees of the rigs which I handled at the airport on my former job. Therefore I can count on many people if I'm in trouble which is not that hard to happen considering my luck/behavior. :P

Don't have time for my crochet and cross-stitch for now, but I intend to organize my time better as I get to know more about what I should do during the day at the office.

Tomorrow I'm going back to Rio as I need to get some bureaucratic/boring issues with my job contract transition, and will come back next tuesday afternoon. I miss my daughters so bad...Can't wait to see them tomorrow, will leave the town as early as possible.

I found an apartment, really small but I don't want a big one to worry about cleaning and stuff, so I'm planning to rent it and specially, planning to decorate it. There are really cool decor shops here but everything is sooooooooooooo expensive. I found a great black chandelier that would be gorgeous on my room, that costs over 4,000 reais...

Right, I'll probably get back to the blog more often, or at least try, now that I'll have stories to tell with my new life.

Out with the old, in with the new!

Yay!!! I have finally sent the Halloween Ornament, and guess what? I forgot to take a picture of it...again!!!  The ornament itself was finished last week, but only today I could find a few minutes to post it. I won't spoil the fun and tell where is it going to, but it's not as far away as it was last time.

Now, to the reason why I've been so busy this last week: I've got a new job proposal and I accepted. I'll be a logistics coordinator for oil rigs. The money is better and I'll have some extra benefits such as health insurance for me and my girls. The thing is..(and I'm about to know if it's good or bad thing) that I'll have to move out and live about 200 km away from where I live now (yes, it is still Rio :D). The city is Macaé, where everything is about oil, from the overpriced bottle of Cola to the airport that is the busiest in the whole planet. I'm going to work there mainly because I can speak *some* English which is such a hard thing to find (english speakers borned and raised in Macaé). I'm gonna live at a friend's place until I find a place and live by myself. I hope I'll get along well and will try to keep the blog updated with my "adventures" in a new town.

R.I.P....beloved company cell phone...

Its passed away...my company cell phone is definetly dead and now I'm using my bright pink Motorola RAZR. At least until they send a new one which I think it's gonna take ages. Whatever...

Had some more progress on PINN's Hill tribes, it's probably 95% done, and I'm really confident that it will be finished by the end of next week. I could make it a challenge...Guess I will do it: Hilltribes will be done by next thursday, Sep 18th!  The punishment for not acomplishing this will be no chocolate on this day. *evil grin* Speaking of which I was considering participating Stitch-a-thon that was introduced to me through [info]snowprincipessa . It's too bad that this month's weekend will be when I go to granny's hose in São Paulo. Maybe next time, but then I'll enter another project once Hilltribes will be done (I don't want to spend a day without chocolate, so it WILL be done)!

Will be off to bed soon, gotta wake up early for work tomorrow.

Compulsive Obsessive

It's becoming obsessive...I've been checking my EMS account at least twice a day since the Halloween Ornament Exchange was closed (actually it was supposed to be closed on sep 6th, but it was closed yesterday I guess). I can't wait to see who will be my partner! I'm thinking of dying some fabric for this exchange which will be a new experience, although I've been wanting to try this for ages. Depending on the partner and pattern, burnt orange is what I have in mind but it might change (as usual).

Just got from work, got a sudden call to the airport, kinda screw things up a bit, and I'm back. Off to mum's soup now, it's a bit cold here.:P

Running nose, sneezing and a cell phone which doesn't work

How did I get into this I keep asking myself...I got the kind of cold I hate the most: I've got a non-stop running nose, sneezing like crazy and a frog in my throat! What else could I ask for? Plus my company cell phone is acting odd, starting to scare me, I hope I don't have to fix and pay for it. Apart that everything is fine, spent this rainy afternoon with the kids watching 10,000 BC which seems to be a good movie if I haven't slept the last half of it (the movie is not boring, but the circunstances...the couch, the cold, right after lunch..couldn't resist, but I did try hard :P).

Thinking seriously about my trip to China. If everything goes the way I want I must be off next year's vacation which will probably be on august. Starting to save money from now, but it won't be easy...Melissa's new spring-summer Secret Garden collection is gorgeous and guess what..it's eastern inspired, the sandals even have chinese names, it was made specially for me, I know it was!!! So ke'ai!!

Also was trying to pick a pattern for EMS' Halloween Ornament Exchange, but I want to know who am I going to send it first, now that we're able to find out the partner's preferences through profile.

WIP's and amigurumis

Been away as usual not only because I'm still not used to blog, but because I lost a friend. Our black lab Jack Black/Sparrow passed away from a devastating disease called canine distemper. At least we didn't have to pick euthanasia as a choice, the disease itself took him away before that. I was thinking how hard it would be for us if we had to choose this.
Hope he will rest in peace in dog's heaven. :?

Trying to talk about good things. Would like to show my first Elisabeth Doherty's amigurumi. I really enjoyed making this one and will definetly make some more (strawbeary amigurumi is my next). My amigurumi fawn is also cute although amateur.

Took my last days of vacation to finish Hilltribes, it's actually almost done, but will post pic when it's ready only, as it's got some dirt marks and it's a bit wrinkled (threw the hoop and q-snap away as I got to the end). Will post when get it washed. This is a preview from some time ago:

Things that p$#@$# me off while riding the bike.

Did I mention I've been riding my bike more often lately? Probably not, but it makes me feel really good, specially with my conscience, once I had an entirely sedentary life before that. Feeling better with body and soul is really good isn't it? But of course there are a couple of things that p#%# me off...like the awful state of the roads in here, bumpers (those tiny , brick-like ones..oh they're nasty), and believe it or not, crazy people. I'd say there was a mass runway from some mental institution, but there's none here, and I really mean people with mental issues. I almost hurt one of those almost everyday. It's dangerous for them, they can be hit by a car.

Been working on the Black Pearl pirate necklace, will post pics when it's done.

On vacation..off to Zakkaland

I knew I wouldn't be able to update this blog too often...so many cute stuff to surf about!:D

Anyway, been on vacation since...don't even remember when, probably 2 weeks. It's gonna be a productive time, I hope. I had finished one handbag, an amigurumi dog, probably something else that I'm missing. The fact is that I wasted some days when the kids weren't at home. Believe it or not I wasn't able to do NOTHING without them around making hell out of my life...moms are weird!
Just found out about a new technique that I'd like to try. Etsy's got great shoppers selling this. Hand cast resin seems to be just the thing for me to develop my jewelry making, specially pendants that I've been thinking of doing for a long time, just didn't know where to start from.
I'll probably post some pictures of it if I ever have any piece done and I'm saying that because it's always so hard to find the materials I want for handcraft here.

Last days remarks

I'm sooo tired. Yesterday I had to go to Macaé and then to São Paulo on business...but it's always a pleasure to visit the International Airport in Guarulhos...oh so many hot asians. xo.  What pissed me off about the trip was the fact that I was so close yet so far away from a gorgeous perfume. For some reason our flight was sent to the international departure area and the dutyfree shop had wonderful perfumes sooo cheap (comparing to the same ones that we double pay because of the taxes). I was ready to pick CK in 2U when I found out I couldn't buy because, although I was in international area, my flight was domestic...  :o * very p$#@ off* anyways...maybe next time...

New hairstyle is coming to stay I guess, still considering the idea. I used to have curly hair, but it seem to me that the guys approved the change so I think that's a very good, strong reason to keep it like this *grin*.

Haven't been crafting lately although ideas are permeating my mind like never before...but the girls have been too wild and I try to control them all the time, so no time left for practicing my projects.

Back to driver's school. Yeah, dad convinced me so did all the times I was stuck in traffic desperately wanting to use the restroom...it's funny now. I'm off to the last theory class * yay! woohoo!* gotta say the instructor is a nice smart guy, but hte subject is sooo boooring *yawn*. Next tuesday I'll go through psychological and eye test and then ready to start actually driving. I'm excited now that I'm close to finish the theory crap.

Right gotta go now. Off to speak to the hairdresser to make this miracle definite...and to drivers school :P

News and worries

Been busier than usual the last week, therefore not as many posts as I wish. Will be even busier next week when I'll go to São Paulo. Also, dad's health issue is driving me crazy as we can't find out what exactly he's got. Those worries make me not want to crochet, x-stitch or design my bags...And it's C-O-L-D...I don't think I've seen colder winter in Rio in the last 23 years. This kind of weather develops an annoying cold rash, plus I feel like a bear, only wants to eat and sleep (last friday I slept from 3 pm to 6:30 am th next day!!). One more thing that bothers me: Govinda hasn't called in a week or so. That depresses me a bit although I'm aware of his situation. Oh well...

Now off to the good news: First and most important I'm on vacations next month!! After 1 yr and 10 months that's all I need although my job is not too hard on me. Second good news: I'm getting myself tattooed during vacations. Just can't decide which tattoo I'll get first, really considering tattooing twice at the same time (is that possible/normal?) Cherries and Ganesha are my options and I'll decide that when I find a nice studio. Got 2 in mind and wanna visit them before making my mind. Don't even have to say that there'll be shots on whichever I choose in due time.

More stash to come!!

I'm refused to believe that my Bernat Satin's are coming tomorrow. And I don't even have to say that I'll go to the airport in person with a WELCOME sign :-). A buddy of mine is coming from th U.S. with some G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S Lion Brand Fun Fur yarn and other yummy - textured yarns plus a couple of clover crochet hooks. But I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Fabric S.E.X.

As it's been usual lately (and that's ruining my finances) saturday is S.E.X. day. Before I shock some, S.E.X. stands for Stash Enhancement eX perience. Bought 2 pieces of gorgeous fabric for projects that are still hidden somewhere in my mind. I bought them thinking of handbags, but...I don't know ,they'll be used when I'm ready, no rush.
Right, about the fabrics: the first one is a double-face orange damask which for my surprise wasn't as hard to find and expensive as I expected. Really liked this one but I had the black with cream background on my head all the time. This one I couldn't find, but I'm happy with what I got.

The second one is my most amazing finding (c'mon I rarely can find what I need for my handcraft purposes here, I have to celebrate when I do!!). I'm not sure about how is it officially called but I named it Chinese Toile de Jour. I'm crazy about all chinese stuff and toile de jour, there couldn't be better combination, c'mon, it was made for me!!

Findings

Found yesterday this cool website where they sell handcrafted items. When you click on an item it leads you to the artist/shop own site. Got a lot of inspiration from there :-). By the way another inspiring source are the etsy shops, it's amazing how you can find pretty much whatever you look for, just type on the search box and you will find items from cute to vintage, from Alice in Wonderland to Elvis Presley and of course the mix of it all. As I've been hanging around these sites I've been feeling like trying new kinds of handcraft/art such as jewelry making with polymer clay and vintage bags. I'll post pictures of my recently finished projects soon (it's night here and the light is not too good for taking pictures).

Jul. 3rd, 2008

You may expose your thoughts now!

Well, well, my first blog entry...and the hardest part is to figure out what to write and not to sound (too) stupid..:) Maybe I'll start talking a bit about myself, although I should have done this on the proper section. I live in a city in countryside area of Rio de Janeiro, worldwide known state of Brazil. It used to be a quiet, peaceful place, but too many people found out about it and moved here so, it lost its qualities. We used to live in the suburbs in metropolitan area and things started to get really bad with the gangs, so my parents decided to move to a better place to raise their brilliant child (moi) just kidding...

I guess I started this blog because I have sooo much time off, despite of so many craft-y projects I have in mind. Guess they're just so many that I don't know where to start from. But this will be subject to the next posts.
